Meet Dr. Kimberly Denton – Koch! She and her husband reside in Apple Valley, Minnesota and enjoy camping, hiking, and spending time with their family and friends. They especially enjoy sharing their hobbies with the newest addition to their family, a 10 month old Golden Retriever named “Myka”.
Originally from Statesboro, Georgia, Dr. Denton-Koch attended Emory University in Atlanta before enrolling in the College of Dental Surgery at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Following completion of a one year General Practice Residency at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Washington D.C., she and her husband decided to settle down in Minnesota to be closer to family. Her husband, Kyle Koch, is a native of Eden Prairie, Minnesota. She states that her husband did a great job introducing her to Minnesota. She quickly “fell in love with Minnesota” after experiencing the “Minnesota cabin life”, snowshoeing, and the Minnesota summer weather. She also jokingly noted that introducing her to the cheese curds, pronto pups, and deep fried cookie dough at the Minnesota State Fair certainly helped as well.
They moved to Minnesota in July of 2016, and Dr. Denton found the perfect career fit with Metro Dentalcare.
“When we relocated to Minnesota, I didn’t have many professional contacts in the area. Joining a group like Metro allowed me to quickly network with a variety of other dentists. Monthly orientation/training events and a supportive team atmosphere made it easy for me to make connections and feel the collegial atmosphere that I had hoped to find.” While Dr. Denton was paired with a doctor mentor, she found equal support and guidance from her peers within her clinic, and credits her “amazing Metro team” for preparing her for success.

“At first I was hesitant about joining a large group. I was concerned that the size of the organization would affect the quality of patient care. These hours really enable me to have the work-life balance that I have always hoped for and the three day weekends allow my husband and I to visit our family in Georgia more frequently”
